Nnewi: The African Japan, Nnewi, the industrial city of Anambra State appears to be sitting on gunpowder as hoodlums and thieves have taken over one of the villages in Umudim known as Umudimnkwa.
Dailytelegraph reliably gathered that the scenario has deteriorated so terribly that daylight robbery is now the order of the day. On enquiry, it was discovered that the Umudimnkwa Vigilante Group has been disbanded, and the entrance and exit gates are opened all through the night.
The current leadership of the community under the headship of Mr. Joseph Okoli (Sangana) is non-chalant towards the situation. Umudimnkwa, the community that boasts of the third richest man in Nigeria, in the person of Dr. Cosmas Maduka President, Coscharis Group Ltd., can no longer sleep with their two eyes closed
Some of the residents who spoke to DailyaTelegraph on the condition of anonymity blamed the President-General, Mr Okoli who has refused to utilize the services of the Vigilante to combat criminality in the community, instead he was saying the other day that there was no money to mobilize the group, saying, "Every man should guard his house".
"We are calling on all Dimnkwa Stakeholders both home and abroad to come to our rescue. We are not safe, our properties are continually being stolen. Please, Gov. Willie Obiano, we need urgent attention before the situation becomes insurmountable. Anambra is the safest state in Nigeria but for the deteriorating state of security in Umudimnkwa"
