This
is another milestone as the federal government commended the National Lottery
Trust Fund (NLTF) for equipping several healthcare facilities across the
country’s six geo-political zones within two years.
This was
contained in the address delivered by the Minister for Special Duties and
Intergovernmental Affairs, Senator George Akume at the official commissioning
of Dimnkwa ultra-modern health centre, and hand-over of high profiled, sophisticated
and vital medical equipment of different types and categories to the centre,
held recently at the centre’s premise located within the axis of Eme Court,
Umudimnkwa Umudim Nnewi.
Akume expressed
satisfaction over the huge progress recorded by the NLTF within a short period,
and submitted that the agency had done well in executing the federal
government’s health intervention programmes which include, revitalization of
health facilities, provision of modern equipment across the country’s medical
centres, among others.
Akume states:
“The Federal Government is impressed with the agency’s resolve to deliver quality
healthcare facilities to the people through its interventions, in spite of the
dwindling global economy and the agency’s meagre income.
Government is
aware of your revitalisation of several healthcare facilities across the six
geo-political zones within the last two years, by so doing, putting smiles on
the faces of ordinary Nigerians in remote villages and communities who
ordinarily wouldn’t afford good healthcare delivery.”
In his
remarks, the Executive Secretary, NLTF, Dr Bello Maigari noted the zeal,
enthusiasm and passion with which the Dimnkwa Health Centre was built within a
short notice. He reinstated the agency’s commitment at ensuring that modern
health facilities are distributed across the country’s health sector so as to
enable good healthcare delivery communities across the country.
The medical
equipment handed over to the centre include, ultra sound machines, oxymetres,
oxygen, CT scanners, hospital beds, blood banks, and several other
sophisticated medical equipment.
Worthy of
note is that the execution of this project was initiated and facilitated by Dr
Stella Maduka (Ada Agulu) who stated that she was inspired to initiate this
project as her own way of contributing to quality healthcare delivery in her
community.
In handing
over the medical equipment, and commissioning of the health centre, the Executive
Secretary, National Lottery Trust Fund, Dr Bello Maigari ably represented by Mrs
Jane Obi noted that the projects were a clear testament to the good leadership
of the board, saying that the interventions had reaffirmed the federal
government’s commitment to promoting quality healthcare and well-being of the
country, through funding from national lottery proceeds.
His words: “This
intervention is a clear demonstration of our desire to promote social inclusion
of the most vulnerable sectors of our society.
“We reaffirm
our enduring and sincere commitment to utilising lottery proceeds judiciously,
for the good and general wellbeing of the nation.”
Receiving the
medical equipment on behalf of the community, the Anambra State Commissioner for
Health, Dr Afam Obidike represented by Dr Chukwudi Njelita assured the federal
government that the state’s health ministry would ensure maximum utilization of
the health facilities for the centre. He promised that qualified health personnel
would be deployed to beef up the medical crew.

history of Dimnkwa leadership.

was erected through communal efforts, and donations from well-spirited sons,
